Third party junk Several problems with this. First off, this is the official remote, but it’s not a Sony product. It’s licensed. The build quality is less than the old PS3 remote. It’s skinnier, lighter, and less comfortable. The texture on the plastic is not the same as on the controllers. The buttons are tiny.Second, the number keys don’t work in PS4 mode. So if you have an app like Plex where you need to enter a PIN, you have to do that with the arrow keys…. so everybody can see your pin while you’re typing it in.Third, it’s short on buttons. No L1,2,3 or R1,2,3, etc. So if you have an app that isn’t specifically programmed to respond to a remote’s FF/RW buttons, but uses L2 and R2 instead, you have to go back to the controller.Fourth, it has a volume punch through feature, but it only works with the “TV” mode. So it will send the volume keys to your TV in PS4 mode, but you can’t make it send the volume to AMP or CBL. So if you have any sort of home…

If i could give 0 stars… I was happy PS4 was about to get an official media remote that I pre ordered it the moment I saw it on Amazon. I had a feeling I should have waited and read the reviews first…The media remote for the PS3 was not able to pair with my Onkyo sound system so I was glad when this PS4 media remote worked, but for some reason, it only provided partial functionality. It could turn on my receiver but it couldn’t turn it off (and yes, I tried everything), I found a work around by programming one of the “soft keys” to the power button, it’s not ideal, but it’s something I could get used to if it meant using 1 less remote.Another thing to add is that the “volume push” is a total let down. The manual says you can control the volume from a certain device no matter what mode it is in, when in reality, PDP meant to say that the certain device means “TV only”. It’s a shame becuase volume push only makes sense if it could work for your surround sound…

Finally a media remote for the ps4? Not so fast… Like many I have waited since launch for a media remote for the ps4. Sony produced a very nice first party remote for the ps3 and even Microsoft produced a media remote for the Xbox one that was available at or near launch. So when I first heard of the PDP “Sony authorized” media remote I was quite excited to try it out. Playing netflix, youtube, etc. via a dualshock 4 is not the best of times. So I had the PDP remote preordered since it was announced and it arrived on the 21st. Well it’s the 23rd and its going back for a refund. On the pro side it is a nicely set up remote. It’s very thin and light with the enter, directional buttons and volume controls are in easy reach. This as about where the pros come to an end.I did pair it with my ps4 without issue and then proceeded to set it up to run my TV and soundbar. So good so far. Controlled Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu with no problems, no control for Youtube though but that may be fixed with an update to the…
